How do you fight an enemy you cannot see?
This is the question that echoes in my head as we try to adjust to a new normal of avoiding UV rays. The bright warmth of the sun tells me the enemy is near, an invading army ready to attack my daughter’s defenseless cells.
It’s a bitter realization that at this point the only option is defense. There is no offense. There is no cure. My child has been drafted into battle, and the only weapons at her disposal are lotions and coverings…and carefully judging whether venturing outside is worth the risk of walking into hostile territory.
Hiding out is not her style. It’s not mine either. I don’t know what our next move will be, but I guarantee we won’t be raising a white flag any time soon.
XP/TTD better watch its back.
